Radiological Investigations
All images held on PACS systems in the following East Midlands hospitals can be viewed from any other hospital in the same group with no need for image transfer requests through the Image Exchange Portal:
Chesterfield Royal Hospital
Kettering General Hospital
Nottingham University Hospitals
Northampton General Hospital
United Lincolnshire Hospitals
University Hospitals of Derby and Burton
Sherwood Forest Hospitals
University Hospitals of Leicester
Go to the EMRAD East Midlands Imaging page PACS Gateway - East Midlands Radiology, choose the relevant hospital and use the username and password for your own institution. You will be able to search the radiology archive as usual.
Notes
- North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, including Peterborough City Hospital, is not part of the PACS Gateway group and images need to be requested via the NHS Image Exchange Portal (IEP). For UHL colleagues, go to IEP Patient Import / Service Catalogue / UHL Neurons to make the request.
- Coronary angiogram images at Nottingham City Hospital are not held on the NUH PACs archive. If Nottingham coronary angiograms are required, please request through IEP IEP Patient Import / Service Catalogue / UHL Neurons
Echocardiogram Image Transfers
Echo studies are not held on PACS systems but can be requested via the IEP (see above). It is often quicker and easier to email the colleagues involved in echo transfer directly. If requests are sent within office hours, images are generally received the same day and often with an hour or two.

Notes
- Echoes are usually sent to the UHL IEP echo node and will appear on UHL Xcelera. They can be found by searching under patient name and not UHL hospital (S) number. If a study has been sent but cannot be seen on Xcelera it may have been sent to UHL PACS. Again, name rather than hospital number should be used to make a search on PACS. In both situations, a second unique identifier, e.g. date of birth, must be checked to confirm the correct images are being viewed.
